Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Electrical Systems Engineer to join our esteemed client, specializing in providing innovative solutions for professional computing within the industrial and defense sectors.
Key Areas of Expertise: This role encompasses a variety of specializations including computing systems, rack integration, tablet technology, engineering practices, manufacturing processes, IoT applications, electro-mechanical systems, sheet metal work, wireless sensor technologies, defense systems, automation, communication technologies, energy solutions, transportation systems, healthcare innovations, edge computing, and micro data centers.
We strongly encourage applications from former British Military personnel who may not meet all the specified criteria but possess valuable experience in managing complex electrical and electronic systems, ideally holding an engineering degree.
Electrical Design Responsibilities:
As the electrical design authority, you will oversee both existing and new electrical projects, addressing design inquiries and resolving issues as they arise. Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing electrical systems to support complex, bespoke projects.
- Creating system schematics, circuit diagrams, cable assemblies, wiring lists, and comprehensive electrical bills of materials.
- Providing expert advice on electrical and electronic matters to the engineering team.
- Conducting conceptual electrical designs using Solidworks Electrical, including prototype builds and design verification testing.
- Reviewing electrical and electronic drawings for accuracy while adhering to cost, safety, and time constraints.
- Managing electrical and electronic component selection with a focus on obsolescence, availability, and cost considerations.
- Identifying and communicating technical risks to the Engineering Director.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements through diligent practices and risk identification. Collaborate with engineering teams and production to document, build, and verify prototype components, providing training to build operators as necessary. Define critical dimensions for incoming inspection assessments.
Engineering Support:
Respond promptly to engineering support requests, ensuring accurate time estimates and timely completion of work. Responsibilities include:
- Recommending and assisting in the rework of non-conforming materials.
- Training production operatives to effectively complete rework using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Embracing the company's core values, objectives, and culture.
- Meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) associated with the role.
- Adhering to the Business Management System (BMS) framework of ISO-9001/14001 processes and associated documentation.
Due to the company's size, flexibility is essential, and you may be required to undertake additional tasks beyond the primary scope of this role.
