About the Company

The company is a leading producer of innovative precast reinforced, pre-stressed, and post-tensioned concrete products. They are the largest independent producer of pre-stressed bridge beams in Britain and offer a comprehensive range of beam profiles as well as bespoke reinforced and post-tensioned products developed and tailored to the needs of individual projects.

About the Role

As the Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will work under the direction of the Senior Quantity Surveyor. Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with sub-contracted procurement and commercial management on designated projects
  • Managing and controlling sub-contractor accounts and variation accounts
  • Assisting and liaising with buyers on materials procurement and buying opportunities
  • Managing day-to-day cost controls, monitoring, and reporting on designated projects
  • Developing an understanding of the designated contract, specification, and pricing to ensure compliance with conditions throughout
  • Working with the Project Manager to select sub-contractors and ensuring they have the necessary information to carry out their work
  • Discussing contractual issues with the Project Manager
  • Measuring project progress, submitting valuations, final accounts, and retention releases, and monitoring receipt of payments
  • Processing sub-contractor requests for payments
  • Supporting the commercial management team with compilation of monthly cost/valuation reports and cash flow to designated projects
  • Assisting with estimates and negotiations on future projects
  • Managing and collating monthly KPI data information
  • Identifying, recording, and pricing compensation events, variations, and additional works and labour variances
  • Maintaining databases and electronic filing using the in-house PIM system
Requirements

To be suitable for this role, you must have a full driving license and your own vehicle. You will also need:

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel and Project
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail, both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage time and workflow of projects efficiently
  • Building effective working relationships with people at all levels across the company and externally
Qualifications

Desired qualifications include a Quantity Surveying degree or HNC/HND qualification in surveying, civil engineering, or construction/project management.
