About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our team at The JAQ Group. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of our businesses, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Operations: Oversee and maintain all financial processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank, fixed assets, inventory, and general ledger, implementing financial controls as required to ensure group compliance.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and deliver accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Stock Control & Analysis: Implement and monitor stock control processes, working with site leaders to provide granular real-time analysis of stock, whilst striving to improve profitability.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Prepare and contribute to the annual budgeting process and develop rolling forecasts to support strategic planning.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations, including UK and EU VAT, TSS regulations, and corporation tax filings.
  • Audit & Statutory Accounts: Manage the preparation of statutory accounts and coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process.
  • Financial Process Improvement: Continuously review and improve financial processes and controls, with a focus on automation and efficiency.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a small operational finance team, providing mentorship and support to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Systems & Technology: Evaluate and implement financial systems and software to enhance data accuracy, reporting capabilities, and overall efficiency.
Candidate Profile

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • ACA/CIMA/ACCA qualification with a strong technical accounting background.
  • Relevant experience in an e-commerce, retail, or consumer goods environment, with a detailed understanding of stock control.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a finance team, with a focus on coaching and mentoring.
  • Demonstrates experience in streamlining financial processes and implementing best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Excel for financial modelling and analysis, with experience in using financial software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar).
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of financial management.
  • Hungry, determined, and passionate about making an impact and driving results.
  • Proactively takes ownership and can prioritize effectively, whilst being flexible to changing demands within a fast-paced business environment.
