Water and Sanitation Specialist

As a vital member of the MSF team, the Water and Sanitation Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring access to clean water and sanitation facilities for communities in need.

This position involves a range of responsibilities, from sourcing and distributing potable water to constructing sanitation facilities for individuals affected by crises. MSF's WATSAN professionals are instrumental in providing essential services that help vulnerable populations survive and maintain their health.

Key Responsibilities

The Water and Sanitation Specialist will typically engage in various project activities, which may include:

  • Leading a team of hygiene promoters, waste management operators, and support staff
  • Ensuring the delivery of safe drinking water to affected communities
  • Planning and implementing the construction of latrines and sanitation infrastructure
  • Overseeing hospital waste management practices
  • Coordinating hygiene promotion initiatives

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Water and Sanitation, or a related field
  • Extensive experience in water and sanitation projects
  • Proven ability to manage, supervise, and train team members
  • Availability for a minimum commitment of nine months
  • At least three months of relevant experience in developing regions
  • Willingness to work in challenging environments
  • Strong adaptability and teamwork skills in a multicultural setting
  • Capacity to handle stress and maintain flexibility
  • Proficient in providing training and guidance to others
  • Fluency in English is required

Language Proficiency

We are particularly interested in candidates who possess strong skills in French or Arabic .
