About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at an SEND school in Gainsborough. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable students with a range of different needs, fostering a positive learning environment and promoting academic success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building Positive Relationships: Establishing trusting and positive relationships with students is essential. You will create a supportive and nurturing environment where students feel safe to express themselves and seek help when needed.
  • Implementing Behaviour Management Strategies: You will assist in implementing behaviour management strategies outlined in students' behaviour support plans, using techniques such as positive reinforcement, de-escalation strategies, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Providing Emotional Support: Students with SEN needs may require additional emotional support. You will be an empathetic listener and provide encouragement and reassurance to help students cope with challenges and build resilience.
  • Supporting Inclusion: You will help promote inclusion by facilitating the participation of students, collaborating with teachers to modify activities and assignments to ensure accessibility for all students.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a school setting or alternatively, experience in a care setting supporting adults with learning disabilities.
  • Adaptable, patient and resilient.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or special needs support are advantageous but not essential.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
