Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Theatre Support Worker at the Kent and Medway Orthopaedic Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new and innovative centre, working alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of operating theatres, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients and staff.
  • Support the surgical team in the care and management of patients, including assisting with patient transfers and positioning.
  • Contribute to the cleaning and disinfection of theatre and recovery areas, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
  • Restock supplies and equipment, ensuring that the theatre is well-stocked and ready for procedures.
  • Assist with the collection and transportation of specimens, and the collection of blood from the Blood Bank as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, using the Trust's IT systems to document patient information and theatre activity.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure effective communication and a smooth workflow.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following skills and qualifications:

  • The Care Certificate.
  • Functional skills English and maths level 1 or GCSE English and maths grade G/1 or above.
  • NVQ/Diploma level 2 in Healthcare (competencies assessed in a healthcare environment) or equivalent healthcare qualification.

We also welcome applications from candidates with experience in a healthcare setting, particularly those with experience in theatre support or surgical care.
