We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer to join our team at PayByPhone. As a key member of our technology function, you will play a critical role in developing major components that power our consumer apps and global platform.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop scalable production software that meets the needs of real-world users and production conditions.
- Work with our team to design and develop automated test suites and establish test plans.
- Collaborate with product management and client services to scope out work and define acceptance criteria.
- Participate in code reviews to share expertise with the team and ensure code quality.
- Monitor the health and success of our products through application and system metrics.
- Owning the success of the features and systems you and your team develop, including monitoring, investigating issues, and supporting the service during outages.
- Mentor fellow team members and help grow new technical leaders.
- Help improve development standards, tooling, and processes.
- Participate in technical decision-making within the team and take a lead role where appropriate.
- Provide on-call, critical response on a rotational basis to support relevant PayByPhone development teams.
- 5+ years' experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable production software.
- Expert-level ability to code in Swift or Java/Kotlin, specific role dependent.
- Full Stack Back End role: Expert-level ability to code in Java.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS/Azure.
- Excellent understanding of software engineering techniques.
- Worked in an agile development environment using processes like Kanban or Scrum.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
- Experience improving legacy systems or migrating them to a microservice architecture.
- Experience with service-oriented or microservices architecture using synchronous (REST) and asynchronous (event-driven) integration.
- Experience with refactoring.
- Nice to have: Experience with React, Docker, Terraform, familiarity with Domain Driven Design concepts, experience with production monitoring and observability.
