- Overseeing and executing analyses and experiments to facilitate system validation.
- Advancing design optimization processes.
- Creating and evaluating radiological safety justifications for proposed engineering solutions.
- Directing the development of proprietary tools to support departmental objectives.

Required Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Degree in a relevant STEM field such as Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, or Nuclear Engineering.
- Proven experience with radiation transport software such as MCNP, MCBEND, or Attila.
- Strong understanding of radiation physics.
- Experience in radiation safety assessments and protocols.
- Knowledge of radiation metrology and the ALARP principle.
Desirable:
- Experience in managing technical projects.

About the Radiation Physics & Shielding Team:
Our team is dedicated to the design and validation of radiation shielding for the UK's nuclear-powered submarine fleet. We are involved in various submarine programs at different stages of the engineering lifecycle, focusing on designing new shields, assessing design changes for the build program, and conducting radiation metrology during commissioning. Additionally, we perform radiological safety studies for multiple areas, develop innovative radiation detectors, and enhance our capabilities in radiation damage to electronics.
