Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Technical Support Specialist to join our client's Service Engineering Team. The successful candidate will possess a high level of technical competence in Fire Detection, Voice Alarm, and Gas Suppression Systems, with excellent fault-finding capabilities and a proactive attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fault finding with a high level of competence, aiming for first-time fixes whenever possible.
- Conduct routine maintenance and service on fire detection, voice alarm, and gas suppression systems.
- Undertake complex fault finding on system software, field devices, and cabling.
- Provide technical support to service engineers in the field.
- Participate in a 24/7 escalation phone support rotation and attend sites as needed to rectify system failures.
- Promote the importance of maintaining critical site stock of spares to clients.
- Undertake System Condition surveys and produce reports.
- Complete Cause & Effect testing and record results.
- Carry out software back-ups of sites and storage of the software.
- Demonstrate leadership and a role model approach by leading by example within the engineering team.
- Support the team to ensure high levels of customer service and engineering capability.
- Provide detailed reports, paperwork, and follow all procedures and guidance from your line manager.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fire system engineering.
- Commissioning grade trained on at least one major life safety product.
- A proactive and can-do attitude with a willingness to share experience and knowledge to help develop team members.
- Strong fault-finding capability.
- Expertise in servicing fire detection, voice alarm, and gas suppression systems.
- Ability to perform complex fault finding on system software, field devices, and cabling.
- Excellent technical support skills for field service engineers.
- Leadership and team player mentality.
- Strong customer service focus.
Additional Requirements
- Availability to provide 24/7 escalation support and attend sites as needed.
- Willingness to travel within London and the South East as required.
- Willingness to work in central London and during unsociable hours, including nights and weekends, when required.
