We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic midwife to join our diabetes team at The Diabetes Times. As a Diabetes Specialist Midwife, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of diabetes services and ensuring that women with diabetes receive high-quality care.
The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for midwifery care, including antenatal care, fetal monitoring, intrapartum care, and postnatal care. You will also have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver training, support students, new midwives, doctors, and engage in audit and quality improvement.
Main Duties of the JobThe post holder will provide effective leadership to the diabetes/pregnancy team and act as the lead midwife on diabetes in maternity services. You will work collaboratively with other diabetes team members and contribute to the education and professional development of staff in both acute and primary care settings.
Responsibilities will include developing specialist programs of evidence-based care for women with diabetes, ensuring that individual care is appropriately planned, implemented, and evaluated. You will also provide expert clinical and professional specialist advice on the care of women who require pre-conceptual care, those with diabetes, or those who develop diabetes during pregnancy.
The successful candidate will be actively involved in client/family education, supporting midwives and GPs to provide ongoing antenatal care and planning care for clients. You will also be responsible for auditing, monitoring, and evaluating the services provided.
