Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior/Principal Reliability Engineer to enhance our engineering capabilities. This role will primarily focus on the reliability aspects of CGD's GaN power devices and Integrated Circuits. Responsibilities include designing reliability experiments, conducting analyses, and developing reliability models. The successful candidate will also create new electrical reliability tests specifically for GaN ICs, collaborating with TCAD and multi-physics simulation engineers to gain insights into device reliability. This position offers the opportunity to expand knowledge in power devices, GaN technology, and reliability testing, all of which are critical to GaN device research and development.

The Senior/Principal Reliability Engineer will be accountable for generating reliable data and insights for CGD and our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement reliability characterization experiments for GaN power ICs.
  • Develop characterization strategies and testing plans (DOE).
  • Create reliability models for GaN devices.
  • Innovate new testing methodologies for GaN-IC reliability.
  • Compose reliability-focused application notes and white papers.
  • Oversee reliability components of Technology R&D and Product R&D initiatives.
  • Conduct customer-specific testing protocols.
  • Lead TCAD and multi-physics simulation projects to derive reliability insights.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to enhance reliability characterization systems.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge of power semiconductor device reliability, particularly GaN.
  • Proficient in statistical data analysis methods and software tools such as JMP, Minitab, or Python.
  • Strategic thinker with practical experience and skills.
  • Able to inspire confidence among colleagues, partners, and clients.
  • Adaptable to a dynamic start-up environment.
  • Willingness to travel and collaborate with partners across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
  • Proactive and responsive to evolving project and business needs.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, particularly in writing technical documents and presenting to audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality results.

Desirable

  • In-depth understanding of wide bandgap semiconductor device physics, especially GaN power devices.
  • Experience in power electronics, particularly in circuits for reliability testing.
  • Familiarity with finite element modeling (TCAD and multi-physics).
  • Background in semiconductor failure analysis.
  • Knowledge of power device packaging technologies and their reliability implications.
  • Project management certifications.
  • Six Sigma black belt certification.
