Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience at Band 6 in an Orthopaedic or Emergency setting, with a proven track record in resolving user concerns and driving continuous quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing change and a proactive approach to patient and multidisciplinary care.

Desirable

  • At least 5 years of post-registration experience in Orthopaedic, trauma, or Emergency settings.

Skills

Essential

  • Strong ability to manage and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work flexibly within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the capability to communicate effectively across all clinical staff levels.
  • Competencies in mobilization and venepuncture.
  • Ability to plan and adapt to complex clinical situations as needed.

Desirable

  • Awareness of audit processes and financial management.
  • Proficiency in using spreadsheet software and advanced communication skills.
  • Specialized knowledge in areas such as wound management and fitting of medical devices.

Educational Background

Essential

  • 1st level Registered Nurse with a credible clinical background.
  • First Level Degree or Master's degree, or a commitment to pursue further education.

Desirable

  • Ongoing personal development in relevant fields, including Orthopaedic nursing qualifications.

Knowledge Base

Essential

  • Familiarity with the NMC Code of Conduct, clinical governance, risk management, and patient safety protocols.
  • Understanding of current issues and best practices in trauma services.
