This position is integrated within trauma units but also extends outreach to emergency departments and surgical theatres to ensure that trauma patients, including those with hip fractures, navigate their care pathways effectively and efficiently.
The focus of this role is to facilitate quicker recovery for patients while serving as a liaison among various healthcare disciplines to achieve optimal patient outcomes, all while meeting quality benchmarks and financial goals for the organization.
Essential skills for success in this role include clinical expertise, strong interpersonal abilities, and effective management capabilities. It is crucial to maintain professional credibility and adaptability as a skilled practitioner in a dynamic healthcare environment, while also pursuing ongoing professional development aligned with the needs of a responsive nursing service centered on patient care.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 3 years' experience at Band 6 in an Orthopaedic or Emergency setting, with a proven track record in resolving user concerns and driving continuous quality improvement.
- Demonstrated experience in managing change and a proactive approach to patient and multidisciplinary care.
Desirable
- At least 5 years of post-registration experience in Orthopaedic, trauma, or Emergency settings.
Skills
Essential
- Strong ability to manage and prioritize workload effectively.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work flexibly within a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the capability to communicate effectively across all clinical staff levels.
- Competencies in mobilization and venepuncture.
- Ability to plan and adapt to complex clinical situations as needed.
Desirable
- Awareness of audit processes and financial management.
- Proficiency in using spreadsheet software and advanced communication skills.
- Specialized knowledge in areas such as wound management and fitting of medical devices.
Educational Background
Essential
- 1st level Registered Nurse with a credible clinical background.
- First Level Degree or Master's degree, or a commitment to pursue further education.
Desirable
- Ongoing personal development in relevant fields, including Orthopaedic nursing qualifications.

- Familiarity with the NMC Code of Conduct, clinical governance, risk management, and patient safety protocols.
