Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team based at our Reading office. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Ridge, you will be exposed to a wide range of projects and clients, working on varied and diverse projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a design team delivering detailed design solutions for clients.
  • Liaise closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Attend project group and technical meetings to discuss project progress and technical issues.
  • Ensure that the design and maintenance of building systems meet legislative and health and safety requirements.
  • Advise clients and architects on energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites, aiming to minimize the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint.
  • Design site-specific equipment as required.
  • Oversee and supervise the installation of building systems and specify maintenance and operating procedures.
  • Use specialist computer-aided design (CAD) and BIM (Revit) software and other resources to design the systems required for the project.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have an accredited Building Services degree or higher educational qualification and significant experience in a similar role. Ideally, you will be chartered or working towards chartered engineer status with a suitable institution. You will need to be an excellent communicator who can articulate complicated issues between clients and project teams. You will also need to show ambition and a willingness to learn while demonstrating high diligence and organizational skills.
