Position Overview
The Centre for Neurosciences (CfN) Clinical Service Unit is excited to announce a full-time and permanent opportunity for a Ward Leader on L24 Ward. We seek a dedicated nurse who is passionate about enhancing both patient and staff experiences, with the vision to cultivate a committed and adaptive team for the future. L24 is a specialized spinal and neurosurgical inpatient unit primarily serving female patients, featuring 32 beds and a workforce of nearly 60 nursing and support personnel.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will hold 24-hour accountability for the proficient and effective administration of the ward. This role encompasses providing professional, clinical, and managerial guidance to the nursing team. The Ward Leader will be tasked with establishing and upholding a ward philosophy centered on compassionate and secure patient care. By overseeing the administrative and financial dimensions of the ward, the individual will ensure the judicious use of clinical and human resources.

Core Duties and Areas of Responsibility
- Provide leadership to the clinical team, inspiring staff to deliver efficient, effective, and high-quality care.
- Ensure a positive patient experience through collaborative teamwork.
- Anticipate challenges and implement preventative measures or contingency plans.
- Work alongside the Matron to enhance ward nursing practices in alignment with the Clinical Service Unit and Trust objectives.
- Manage the nursing team, including performance evaluations, attendance, and workforce planning.
- Oversee the clinical budget for the ward, ensuring financial accountability.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Registered Nurse (RN Adult or RN Child) qualification (Level 1 or 2).
- A recognized teaching/assessing qualification.
- A degree in Nursing or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Extensive post-registration experience, particularly in a leadership capacity.
- Experience in managing and leading a team, with a focus on service development and change management.
