Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Animal Care Project Manager to lead our innovative animal husbandry project at Brandon Trust.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health and welfare of all farm livestock, coordinating staff rotas, and maintaining excellent standards of housekeeping and hygiene across the farm site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the health and welfare of all farm livestock, including recognizing and responding to ill health or injury
- Coordinate staff rotas to ensure adequate staffing throughout the year, including weekends and bank holidays
- Stay up-to-date with legislative changes and comply with notifications to manage risks such as TB and avian flu
- Provide quantitative and qualitative reports as needed, such as a monthly report to the Care Farm Manager
- Lead and supervise staff through coaching, supervision, appraisal, and performance management
- Develop and maintain good relationships with farmers, landowners, smallholders, and vets
- Maintain excellent standards of housekeeping and hygiene across the farm site
- Support the Manager and the Trust in developing and implementing plans to achieve and sustain excellence within the service
Requirements:
- Experience in farming or livestock keeping, preferably in a small, community-based setting
- Knowledge of all compliance requirements for keeping livestock
- Driver, ideally with experience in towing or larger vehicles
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a wide range of people
- Strong IT skills and ability to use a variety of programs
- Willingness to network and promote the Care Farm, and identify and develop new opportunities and initiatives
- A positive approach towards working with people with learning disabilities and an attitude towards others based on respect, dignity, and equality
