Job Summary

Nuclear Energy Consultants, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Senior Nuclear Licensing Engineer to support the deployment of the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor in the UK. The successful candidate will work under the direction of GE-Hitachi Licensing Managers to provide licensing support and deliverables in the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation and submittal of UK Generic Design Assessment (GDA) and site-specific license application documentation.
  • Prepare and review responses to UK Office of Nuclear Regulation (ONR), UK Environmental Assessment (EA), Natural Resources Wales (NRW), customer, and other stakeholder questions.
  • Support the preparation and conduct of technical and licensing presentations to UK regulators regarding BWRX-300 pre-application activities.
  • Coordinate and attend BWRX-300 meetings with UK country regulators, customers, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, scientific discipline, or other related technical fields.
  • Ten (10) years or more interacting with UK regulators, or other international regulatory bodies, on behalf of nuclear power plant license applicants and license holders.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Previous experience with GE-Hitachi, including ABWR or ESBWR licensing activities.
  • Previous experience in the evaluation of normal operation, anticipated operational occurrences, and design basis accidents with BWR construction, startup, and operations.
  • Previous experience in SMR licensing activities.
  • Previous experience in International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) requirements and guidelines.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will primarily work remotely in the UK and meet deliverable schedules, with on-demand support of travel to US GE-Hitachi Headquarters and other locations.
