The Role
  • Production and Supply Chain Management: Oversee capacity planning across all activity centers to enable accurate prediction and quotation of delivery lead times. Manage the day-to-day planning, prioritization, control, and allocation of work within the factory.
  • Ensure production capacity matches demand through control of overtime, manning levels, shift working, capital investment, and improvement in efficiencies.
  • Liaise with purchasing to ensure maintenance of adequate stock levels and avoid stockout/production stoppages.
  • Fully understand the roles of direct, lead, support, and temporarily stand in for immediate subordinates.
Leadership and Personnel
  • Recruit, motivate, and lead all factory employees.
  • Ensure compliance with current employment legislation.
  • Recommend and agree on remuneration levels and skillsets for factory employees.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
Training and Development
  • Ensure appropriate and necessary training is provided for employees, including induction, company rules/procedures, health and safety, and job-specific skills.
  • Carry out regular performance appraisals, retraining, and reskilling as appropriate to the company's needs.
Quality and Improvement
  • Take responsibility for quality control.
  • Continuously improve factory efficiencies through better working methods, layouts, organization, systems, etc.
  • Maintain and manage operation of any bonus schemes in force from time to time.
Projects and Initiatives
  • Carry out specific projects as and when required.
Requirements
  • A proven track record of running manufacturing operations and supporting growth objectives.
  • Always seeking to improve practice and identify process improvements, with the ability to communicate the issues and instruct colleagues on change implementation.
  • Strong H&S experience and training (NEBOSH a significant advantage).
