Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Play Therapist to join our team. As a Play Therapist, you will work closely with families to provide play opportunities that cater to the individual needs and capabilities of their child. Your role will involve assessing children for suitability and capability for therapeutic play, enabling us to provide play opportunities for all children who access our care.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing play opportunities for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families
- Assessing children for suitability and capability for therapeutic play
- Working closely with families to understand their child's needs and develop personalized play plans
- Collaborating with the Play Team to ensure consistency and quality of care
- Maintaining accurate records and reporting on child progress
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Level 3 Early Year Care and Education qualification or equivalent
- Experience working with children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing circumstances
- A full driving license and use of a car for business purposes
Working Arrangements
This is a 35-hour per week position, with a minimum of 28 hours per week considered. You will be required to work across both our Wimborne office and our hospice in Corfe Mullen, with occasional travel to support our Devizes Hospice. Flexibility in working hours will be required in this role.
