Position Overview

We are seeking applications for the role of Agricultural Technician - Seed & Data Processing Specialist to become a vital member of our Field Experimentation Team at the John Innes Centre.

About the Field Experimentation Team

The Field Experimentation Team is dedicated to conducting cutting-edge field trials across various crops, providing essential data to researchers at the John Innes Centre. The successful candidate will support our scientists in advancing crop genetics research by managing growing experiments within a commercial agricultural setting. You will collaborate with a team of five at our modern field facility, surrounded by expansive agricultural land.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will assist the Field Experimentation Team in generating valuable crop genetics research data for both internal scientists and external stakeholders through hands-on experiments in a commercial farming context.

Candidate Requirements

Ideal candidates will have prior experience in agriculture or horticulture, along with strong computer skills and effective communication abilities. Flexibility in working hours and adaptability to varying weather conditions are essential. A readiness to operate diverse equipment, ranging from drones and tractors to hand tools, is crucial.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a minimum of 5 GCSEs A*-C (or equivalent) and demonstrate a passion for plant science. A solid understanding of plant care practices and key Health & Safety regulations is required. Previous experience in an agricultural or horticultural environment is necessary, and familiarity with field trials or experimentation will be considered an advantage.
