Job Title: Apprentice Quality Engineer

Excelitas Canada Inc. is seeking an exceptional individual to support the development and delivery of our expanding range of next-generation products and technologies.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Apprentice Quality Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will provide support and direction in the control of processes and quality management, in accordance with both the departmental operating procedures and company Quality Manual.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading Quality Root Cause and Corrective actions through Quality methods such as 8D, A3
  • Providing a supporting role for the completion of Fast responses using Fishbone, 3 legged 5 Why
  • Managing department MRB process and reporting of key issues, late MRB tickets
  • Management of the Nonconformities related to the responsible area and providing support and guidance to employees on effective corrective actions
  • Producing Right First Time data
  • Liaising with all areas of the business, at all levels, together with suppliers and customers in resolving product quality related issues
  • Conducting layered process audits and where applicable AS9100D internal audits in order to demonstrate compliance with procedures, processes and other requirements
  • Attending the various business/product reviews to ensure the business is addressing all aspects of the requirement to the satisfaction of the customer
  • Building effective working relationships internally and externally
  • Verification processes to AS9102 (FAI) AS9145 (PPAP) or similar
  • Risk mitigation and analysis (FMEA – PFMEA/DFMEA)
Requirements:
  • A high standard of formal education (preferably to HNC level or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality requirements
  • A time served background in an engineering discipline
  • An understanding of metrology (optical/mechanical), and problem solving tools / techniques
  • Fully competent in the use of PC's (Microsoft Office Applications) as detailed technical report generation will be required
  • Quality Assurance experience within a precision manufacturing environment
