Job Title: Senior Mechanical Project Design Engineer

Join Anthro JV as a Senior Mechanical Project Design Engineer and take on a challenging role in the Rail sector. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the Mechanical and Public Health engineering function on the HS2 Old Oak Common project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a small Engineering team to deliver the design, installation, and commissioning of Mechanical and Public Health scope of works at HS2 Old Oak Common Station.
  • Undertake Mechanical and Public Health design review in line with current project applicable HS2, NR, BS, EN, and ISO standards.
  • Manage a 3rd party design consultant in delivering design deliverables required for the project.
  • Provide engineered solutions to key project problems to satisfy client expectations, project restrictions, and budget considerations.
  • Direct liaison with CAD/BIM team to ensure correct drawing modeling to BIM or other standards.
  • Attend and participate as the Mechanical lead in interdisciplinary design reviews and checks (IDR/IDC).
  • Support and where required, carry out the Commissioning of Mechanical Systems.
  • Carry out site surveys/visits for project purposes, including identifying scope, improvements to systems, dilapidation, and design requirements.
  • Direct liaison with installation teams to ensure design suitability, works methodology, and solve key installation issues/constructability.
  • Working with the commercial department to track technical or design change and variances.
  • Working with the planning department to plan design, installation, and T&C works.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
  • Engineering Council Registration as Incorporated Engineer.
  • Registered member of IMechE, IET, CIBSE, or other recognized Engineering Council Institutions.
  • SMSTS, SSSTS, or IOSH Managing Safety.
  • CSCS Card – AQP or PQP minimum.
  • Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Engineering Council Registration as Chartered Engineer.
  • Project management qualification, APM, PRINCE 2, or equivalent.
  • Formal HSE training, NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • DSEAR & ATEX formal training.
Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of relevant Mechanical and Public Health installations legislation and standards.
  • BIM and design modeling standards.
  • Advanced MS Office skills, including Excel.
  • Utilization of MS Project or P6.
  • Fire-rated ductwork.
  • Large HVAC systems, including heat pumps.
  • Public Health (potable water, DHW, gravity, and pumped drainage, rainwater collection, etc.).
  • Revit (or equivalent BIM product).
  • Utilization of Mechanical design packages (HEVACOMP, IES, etc.).
  • Utilization of pipe stress analysis software (AUTOPipe or CASEAR II).
  • Design using AutoCAD, Microstation, or Revit.
  • Awareness of DSEAR/ATEX requirements and obligations as designer and installer.
