About the Role

Tarmac is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Multi-Skilled Operative at our Barrasford Quarry and Asphalt Plant in Hexham, Northumberland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate machinery and work with aggregates on site to deliver high-quality products.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Operate the weighbridge and drive a loading shovel as required.
  • Conduct day-to-day maintenance and ensure the highest levels of housekeeping.
  • Drive a culture of zero harm and behavioural safety.
  • Comply with and promote Health and Safety measures around the site.
  • Train and operate on static plant operations to optimize plant performance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working in an industrial or factory environment as an operative or labourer.
  • Good communication skills and a desire to develop both operative and supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of the industry and ideally of quarrying.
  • Flexibility to work as part of an effective Multi-Skilled Operative team.
  • Self-motivation and ability to motivate other colleagues in the team.
  • Knowledge of Risk Assessments and SSOW (HIRA) and Permit systems.
