At 2 Sisters Food Group, we take pride in being essential contributors to the food supply chain. We are currently seeking a Production Machinery Operator to enhance our operations.

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 15:00 – 23:00

Compensation: £14.23 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the smooth operation of all production machinery, including freezers, bagging machines, and quality control equipment.
  • Ensure proper setup and optimal functioning of machinery throughout production runs.
  • Maintain machinery to guarantee a seamless production process while adhering to food safety and health regulations.
  • Conduct thorough pre-start checks and address any identified issues promptly.
  • Assist the engineering team with basic mechanical servicing and participate in preventive maintenance programs.
  • Respond effectively to equipment breakdowns, employing basic troubleshooting techniques and communicating issues to engineering staff.
  • Coordinate daily machinery changeovers in collaboration with supervisors to maximize equipment efficiency.
  • Promote continuous improvement by regularly assessing machinery performance and safety, collaborating with production and engineering teams to implement necessary enhancements.
  • Maintain accurate records of machinery performance metrics, including downtime and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct ongoing visual inspections throughout shifts to ensure machinery and product integrity.
  • Report any machinery or product deficiencies.
  • Set machines accurately and safely to achieve optimal performance based on product specifications.
  • Track daily yield and report findings to senior management.
  • Uphold health and safety standards in accordance with company policies and regulations, fostering a culture of safety awareness among all operators.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and promote a 'clean as you go' approach.
  • Minimize the risk of product contamination through diligent work practices.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving abilities on all equipment and maintain effective communication with the engineering team.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the efficient operation of the facility.
Ideal Candidate:

Qualifications:

  • Level 2 Food Safety Certification
  • Level 2 Health and Safety Certification
  • Manual Handling Training
  • HACCP Level 2 Certification
  • IOSH Managing Safely Certification (or willingness to pursue)

Experience:

  • At least 2 years in a food manufacturing setting
  • Demonstrated experience in machine operation or engineering, with a willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with machinery and measurement tools
  • Understanding of production processes
  • Ability to interpret schematics, manuals, and engineering drawings
  • Experience in enhancing technical and food safety standards
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills with keen attention to detail
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Capable of prioritizing and organizing tasks to meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated and resilient
  • Proficient in problem-solving within a dynamic environment
