About the Role

Barrett Steel Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shift Supervisor to join our team at our CMT Steel Services site in Cradley Heath. As a Shift Supervisor, you will play a critical role in leading and organizing a production shift within the warehouse, driving processes, and ensuring all health and safety standards are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring all activities comply with Barrett Steel's Health and Safety policies.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and satisfaction, promoting the Barrett Steel Quality policy and local Operating Procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement throughout all aspects of the warehouse, identifying opportunities for process enhancements and implementing changes.
  • Motivate, train, and develop the shift team, managing its performance to maintain an effective team capable of meeting its current and projected objectives.
  • Ensure accuracy and efficiency in key areas of the warehouse structure.
  • Collaborate with the team under the direction of the Operations Director and Shift Manager to develop and implement operational solutions that optimize cost and quality.
  • Coordinate shift activities efficiently and effectively, ensuring seamless execution of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Fulfill orders and provide holiday cover for other Shift Supervisors as required.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven success in leading and supervising a team, with a strong track record of achievement.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Health and Safety principles, with IOSH training or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to manage and develop effective team working, with a focus on collaboration and communication.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using a side loader and FLT.
  • Long-term career aspirations, with a desire to develop and grow within the company, potentially leading to future opportunities as a Shift Manager or similar role.
