About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Mental Health Nurse in a secure environment. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality psycho-social nursing care to a defined caseload of offenders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver evidence-based practice and psychological interventions to support offenders with mental health needs.
  • Assess and develop care plans to ensure high-quality nursing care and promote recovery and self-care.
  • Collaborate with senior staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective care coordination and risk management.
  • Participate in reviews and assessments of individuals managed under the ACCT framework, particularly those at risk of suicide or self-harm.
  • Act as an advocate and challenge others when necessary to ensure the best possible outcomes for offenders.

Person Specification
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) qualification.
  • Experience working in secure environments, such as prisons or forensic services.
  • Ability to assess risk and care-plan effectively.
  • Understanding of the 1983 Mental Health Act and subsequent legislation.

Please note that all applicants must be willing to undergo National Security Vetting to work in a prison setting. You will need to provide proof of right to work documentation, ID, and address history. Non-UK passport holders will need to provide additional documentation and a Home Office Share code.
