Job Description:

Quest Employment is seeking skilled Warehouse Forklift Operators for ongoing temporary roles in the Orton Southgate area of Peterborough. Candidates must demonstrate flexibility, reliability, and readiness for immediate employment when necessary. A basic to satisfactory command of English for speaking, reading, and writing is essential.

As a Warehouse Forklift Operator, you will need to adapt to various tasks that may include product mixing, packing, picking, dispatching, boxing, and palletizing. A certain level of dexterity is required and will be evaluated as needed.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to join a growing organization within a purpose-built facility located in Alwalton Hill, Peterborough.

Available shifts include 06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00 / 22:00-06:00 fixed shift pattern, with potential weekend work.

Salary Breakdown:

  • Monday to Friday - 6am to 2pm base rate £12.19 per hour, over 37.5 hours £18.29 per hour
  • Monday to Friday - 2pm to 10pm base rate £13.19 per hour, over 37.5 hours £18.29 per hour
  • Sunday to Thursday - 10pm to 6am base rate £14.19 per hour, over 37.5 hours £18.29 per hour

Daily Responsibilities: (A role best suited to your skills will be identified. There may be opportunities to rotate through different departments once trained.)

  • Loading / Unloading: Responsible for loading and unloading materials, products, and merchandise onto and off trucks, trailers, racks, shelves, and vehicles.
  • Goods In / Goods Out: Responsible for the location, allocation, and movement of all parts and products to fulfill internal and external customer orders and outgoing shipments.
  • Dispatch: Arranges shipments by checking stock to determine inventory levels and placing/expediting orders.
  • Quality Checking / Returns: Maintaining and calibrating measuring equipment to various testing standards and comparing finished products to original specifications.
  • Picking: Using a hand scanner to pick both single and wholesale orders, preparing them for packing and dispatch.
  • Packing: Packing orders in accordance with established packing procedures.
  • Utilizing internal software as required.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of your work area.
  • Being aware of and adhering to Health and Safety protocols.
  • Working towards daily productivity targets.
  • Meeting all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in place.

Expected Working Environment:

  • Standard warehouse environment.
  • Safety boots and Hi Vis Vest are mandatory.
  • All other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided as necessary.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • VNA: Accredited License.
  • Hi Lop: Experience or in-house license will be assessed.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods (8-hour shifts).
  • Capability of lifting, bending, reaching overhead, crouching, and/or stretching.
  • Ability to push and pull weights of 15kg / Lifting and moving products of 15kg.
  • Manual dexterity in both hands and wrists.
  • Basic computer literacy (preferred but not essential).
  • Time management skills.
  • Experience in a busy warehouse environment (preferred but not essential).
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and diligence.
