About the Role:

Merton Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Educational Psychologist to lead the Educational Psychology Service (EPS) in delivering high-quality support to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and operational management for the EPS, ensuring the quality of its contribution to the work of the Directorate of Children Schools and Families.
  • Lead a team of Educational Psychologists in delivering a range of services, including assessments, interventions, and consultations to schools, settings, and families.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure the effective delivery of the EPS.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including teachers, social workers, and healthcare professionals, to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to supporting children and young people.
  • Contribute to the development of the EPS's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the Council's priorities and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate or Master's degree in Educational Psychology, with Graduate Registration with the British Psychological Society and current HCPC Registration.
  • Proven experience in leading a team of Educational Psychologists, with a track record of delivering high-quality services and improving outcomes for children and young people.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve excellence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, including children, young people, parents, and professionals.
