Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating transportation operations to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of goods.

Key Responsibilities:

Transport Planning:

  • Develop and implement effective transportation plans to meet customer delivery requirements
  • Optimize routing and scheduling of vehicles to ensure maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Monitor and adjust transportation plans as necessary to address changes in demand or unforeseen issues

Fleet Management:

  • Coordinate the allocation and utilization of vehicles to meet operational needs
  • Liaise with the company workshop to ensure all vehicles are maintained in good working condition and scheduled for regular servicing
  • Manage documentation and records related to vehicle usage, maintenance, and compliance

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all transportation operations comply with relevant regulations, including health and safety, environmental policies, and legal requirements
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in transportation legislation and industry best practices

Communication and Coordination:

  • Liaise with drivers and customers to ensure smooth transportation operations
  • Develop and maintain new business relationships with customers
  • Provide clear instructions and support drivers regarding routes, schedules, and delivery requirements
  • Address any issues or delays promptly and effectively, maintaining high standards of customer service

Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor key performance indicators, produce regular reports on idling, fuel usage, and general operations
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and service quality
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at improving overall operational performance
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce costs in transportation operations

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in transportation management
  • Holder of a CPC in road haulage
  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
