About the Role

The Myton Hospices is seeking a highly motivated and organized Project Volunteer Coordinator to support the development and implementation of a new community-based support service for individuals living with or caring for someone with a life-limiting illness in their own home.

As a key member of the team, you will work closely with the Associate Director of Service Development and Improvement to design, develop, and implement the new service. Your primary responsibility will be to develop a team of community support volunteers and manage their recruitment, induction, training, and ongoing support.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Associate Director of Service Development and Improvement in researching existing community-based services and reviewing patient feedback to determine the requirements of the new service.
  • Contribute to the planning of the 'pilot' phase to implement the new service and participate in the development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures.
  • Work directly with the Associate Director and Head of Volunteering to establish tasks that could be undertaken by volunteers and develop role descriptions.
  • Liaise with marketing and the volunteering department to support innovative and engaging volunteer recruitment campaigns.
  • Develop community links and partnerships to ensure a wide reach for volunteer opportunities.
  • Attend community and Myton events to recruit new volunteers and work closely with the Volunteering department to recruit, induct, and support new volunteers.
  • Plan induction and ongoing training to ensure volunteers have the necessary skills and tools to provide support in a community setting.
  • Provide regular supervision opportunities for volunteers and work with other volunteer coordinators to ensure effective management and support.
  • Gather feedback from volunteers and respond to and help resolve volunteering concerns and safeguarding issues.
  • Work with the Volunteering department to establish self-support and in-built leadership structures within the new volunteering teams.
  • Maintain up-to-date volunteer records and provide reports on volunteer data and impact for the new community service.

Person Specification

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of people.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage own workload and priorities and work as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbally.
  • Good IT skills with competency around using Microsoft packages and familiar with the use of databases.
  • High degree of motivation, commitment, and ability to use own initiative.
  • Good time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations and provide a friendly, objective service.
  • Confident representing Myton at external volunteer recruitment events.
  • Enthusiastic and professional attitude.
  • A passion for volunteering and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of best practice and initiatives related to volunteering.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience of using volunteer management systems or databases.
  • Experience of developing, managing, and evaluating volunteer-led services or projects.
  • Experience of working or volunteering within a health or social care environment.

Working Arrangements

  • Ability to be mobile working across multiple locations, some of which may be remote.
  • Ability to work flexibly to attend some meetings and events out of hours.
  • Willingness to support appropriate fundraising events.
  • The right to work in the UK.
