The Workshop is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team in a world-renowned Valve manufacturing company. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for producing machined parts by programming, setting-up, and operating CNC lathes, CNC vertical milling machines, predominantly turning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program, set-up, and operate CNC lathes, CNC vertical milling machines, and traditional lathes and milling machines in a safe, reliable, and effective manner.
- Determine the fixtures, attachments, and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications and mount them safely on the machine prior to beginning cutting metal.
- Discuss project instructions and specifications with engineers and supervisors to guarantee consistency between plans and products.
- Collaborate with colleagues to modify designs when existing ones are not feasible.
- Modify machine speed, tooling, and cutting style to ensure precision and accuracy of manufactured parts in a range of different ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
- Experience of machining various metals and ability to write Fanuc, Siemens, and Hurco programs.
- Oversee cutting process, make adjustments throughout each job, catch mistakes as they happen, and take necessary measures to eliminate errors.
- Supervise machine operating parameters (e.g. temperature and tool wear).
- Review and interpret cutting plans, enter them into control outlets before jobs, and alter them to correct mistakes when necessary.
- Management of consumables such as lubricants, tips, and drills.
Requirements:
- Higher school diploma or equivalent in mechanical engineering or machining.
- Not less than 3 years hands-on CNC milling and turning experience in a manufacturing workshop with not less than 1 year's experience in a repair workshop. Experience with 4-Jaw chucks is a definite advantage.
- A comprehensive understanding of materials handling, including crane driving and slinging.
Skills and Competencies:
- Technical skills including manual & CNC machining (milling and 4-jaw chuck turning an advantage).
- A good knowledge of CNC software and hardware programming skills.
- Problem-solving skills, particularly concerning the repair of worn parts where there is evidence of distortion, wear, ambiguous instructions, lack of clear information, etc.
- Effective record keeping.
