Role Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Character Artist to join our studio, working on a narrative-driven 'Adventure' game with genre-defining goals. Collaborating with the Character Art team, Art Director, and other development team members, the Senior Character Artist will create photorealistic, AAA-quality characters and creatures.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional artistic ability and technical expertise in real-time character modeling and texturing within a game development environment.
We welcome candidates who can work in our studio for 1-3 days per week, but we also consider remote working arrangements for UK-based individuals.
Key Responsibilities:- Produce high-quality character models that meet design and direction requirements, following established pipelines.
- Work closely with the Character Art and Concept teams, and be receptive to feedback from the Art Director and Lead Character Artist.
- Collaborate with Technical Art and Technical Animation to ensure all assets are efficient and suitable for the game.
- Proven experience as a Character Artist in game development.
- A portfolio showcasing high artistic ability, particularly in creating clothes, hair, and accessories.
- Detailed understanding of human anatomy and proportion.
- Expertise in sculpting, 3D modeling in Maya/Max, and PBR texturing of real-time characters in Substance Painter.
- An enthusiastic and collaborative nature, self-motivated, positive, and open to feedback.
- Ability to address both creative and technical challenges.
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools, including Maya, Substance Painter, ZBrush, and Marvelous Designer.
- Solid understanding of character topology and the ability to create well-optimized and animation-friendly meshes.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, maintaining good timekeeping and self-organization.
- Excellent communication skills, able to understand technical instructions and share knowledge with the team.
- Experience with Unreal Engine.
- Knowledge of AAA hair authoring workflows.
- Shader knowledge is also beneficial.
