Position Overview:
Empowering Learning is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Needs Support Assistant to join our team. This role involves working with students who have significant learning challenges, specifically within a supportive educational environment.

Role Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the education of children aged 9-13 years who have severe learning difficulties. You will be part of a collaborative team, providing support across multiple classes rather than focusing on individual students.

Key Duties Include:
- Supporting students with profound multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and their personal care needs.
- Facilitating communication for students who may have limited verbal skills, utilizing methods such as symbols or signing.
- Implementing tailored learning strategies that cater to the diverse needs of each student.

Essential Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role, specifically with SLD students.
- Proficiency in numeracy and literacy to assist students effectively.

Desired Skills:
Experience with communication aids such as PECS or Makaton is advantageous. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate an understanding of cultural diversity and its impact on learning.

Working Environment:
This position requires a commitment to full school hours, five days a week. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, patient, and passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young learners.
