Position Overview

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to guide our Aerospace & Defence project team.

As an Engineering Manager, you will oversee the A&D Focus Team, which includes project oversight, management of the technical execution team, and collaboration with customer development teams.

This role encompasses a blend of personnel management, project oversight, and stakeholder engagement. You will be instrumental in expanding the team and cultivating a positive team culture within the broader organizational context.

You will lead high-priority projects that are crucial to our operations. Additionally, you will manage temporary or special projects that may not align with specific organizational responsibilities but require dedicated leadership to meet unique operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team and Resource Management: Efficiently manage personnel and resources by appropriately distributing them across various design centers. This includes conducting effective team meetings, developing operational plans and budgets, and ensuring the maintenance of quality systems and corrective actions. Balancing the needs of employees, clients, and Plexus is paramount in this role.
  • Performance Evaluation and Mentorship: Conduct comprehensive performance reviews, staff assessments, and individual discussions to provide constructive feedback and guidance. Recognizing individual achievements, setting objectives, and professionally resolving personnel issues are also essential duties.
  • Capability Development: Enhance and broaden team capabilities by recruiting qualified individuals, establishing and achieving team objectives, identifying training opportunities, effectively assigning projects, and developing technical roadmaps. Additionally, establishing and refining product realization processes is vital.
  • Client Development: Lead the customer engagement process to secure new business opportunities and foster repeat business with existing clients.
  • Collaborative Support: Identify work packages suitable for collaboration and work with other Functional Managers to promote inter-design center project staffing, considering the unique needs of each project, client, and employee.
  • Expectation Management: Ensure effective management of client expectations for complex projects, including product commercialization initiatives. This involves setting realistic expectations regarding challenges in product development, project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, deliverables, and any changes to initial proposals.

Qualifications:


• A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline is required.


• A minimum of five (5) years of industry experience is necessary, including two (2) years of preferred Project Management experience, and two (2) years of preferred experience with Plexus or a similar service-oriented industry, provided educational requirements are met.


• Candidates with a combination of education and experience that sufficiently equips them to fulfill the key responsibilities will also be considered.
