Position Overview: Medical Consultant in Gastroenterology

We are seeking a skilled medical professional to fulfill the role of Medical Consultant in Gastroenterology. Below are the key qualifications and expectations for this position:

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
  • Inclusion in the Specialist Register with GMC or CCT anticipated within 6 months of the interview
  • CESR or equivalent European qualifications for Specialist Registration
  • MRCP certification
  • Current Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
  • Comprehensive experience in General Medicine and Gastroenterology
  • Familiarity with UK hospital systems
  • Proficient in diagnostic gastrointestinal endoscopy
  • Effective communication skills
  • Understanding of GMC's Good Medical Practice
  • Engagement in clinical audit and awareness of Clinical Governance
  • Experience in critical appraisal of medical evidence
  • Capability to organize educational programs for medical students
  • Insight into NHS management and structure
  • Willingness to engage in clinical management activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree such as MD, PhD, or MSc
  • Experience within the NHS framework
  • Training in subspecialty services
  • Additional clinical qualifications
  • Knowledge of risk management practices
  • Experience in teaching multidisciplinary staff across all professional levels
