Position Overview
At Balfour Beatty, we are committed to building a sustainable future. Join our Highways division as a Carbon Advisor and contribute to our mission of leading the industry in carbon management.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the Balfour Beatty Highways portfolio in the southern region and key Major Projects. Your focus will be on developing, implementing, and monitoring carbon reduction strategies to ensure alignment with our annual business objectives and the overarching Beyond Net Zero Carbon strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for carbon-related matters on projects within the region.
- Manage and enhance carbon management and decarbonization efforts across relevant BB Highways projects.
- Implement the BB Highways Carbon Management System effectively on assigned projects.
- Assist in the annual verification process for BB Highways PAS 2080, including evidence collection, interviews, audits, and maintaining necessary documentation.
- Provide regular updates on project carbon management performance to the Head of Carbon.
- Aid in the creation and delivery of carbon dashboards for projects and business units.
- Coordinate updates on carbon forecasts during critical project milestones.
- Collaborate with the BB Group Sustainability Team on innovations, policies, and best practices.
- Develop and deliver training programs focused on carbon management for project teams.
- Support the integration of carbon management into various project functions, including procurement and logistics.
- Assist clients with carbon reporting and deliverables, including management plans and baselines.
- Conduct technical reviews of carbon deliverables produced by partners and suppliers.
- Foster relationships with regional client contacts, including National Highways.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for individuals with the following qualifications and experience:
- A degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Carbon Management, or a related field.
- Knowledge of carbon impact and mitigation strategies in infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with carbon reporting standards and regulatory frameworks, such as PAS 2080.
- Experience in integrating low carbon solutions into infrastructure design and construction.
- Proficiency in Office applications and analytical tools.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A commitment to seeing projects through to completion.
- Membership in a relevant professional organization is a plus.
