Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Prototype Manufacturing Specialist to join our team at Cummins Inc. in the Special Products department. This role involves working in a manufacturing environment, specializing in prototype manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enhance Safety and Compliance: Adhere to HSE standards, policies, and procedures, and report hazards and incidents to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Quality Assurance and Improvement: Maintain high standards of workmanship, conduct quality inspections, and provide feedback to improve product quality.
  • Efficient Production and Maintenance: Utilize expertise in operating complex machine tools and performing maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize equipment uptime.
  • Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Instruct and coach less experienced team members to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Recognize and mitigate the environmental impact of work activities to contribute to the company's sustainability goals.
  • Problem Solving and Process Improvement: Participate in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) teams and engage in problem-solving initiatives to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Housekeeping and Organization: Maintain a clean and orderly work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Effectively communicate with team members and support teams to enhance collaboration and ensure issues are promptly addressed.

Requirements

  • Technical Expertise: Significant level of machining experience, particularly in five-axis CNC milling and CAD/CAM systems. Proven expertise in small batch and prototype manufacturing.
  • Problem-Solving & Improvement: Proactive in problem-solving and leading improvement efforts to boost performance and engage the team.
  • Engineering Drawings: Skilled in interpreting complex engineering drawings for small batch prototype manufacturing.
  • Communication & Quality: Strong communication to ensure workflow and customer needs are met. Focused on maintaining quality standards, driving team ownership, and developing best practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.
