Job Title: Principal Engineer - Fluid Systems

Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Filton and Portsmouth. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements.

Salary: Circa £52,000 (dependent on experience)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer - Fluid Systems to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our Fluid Systems team, you will be responsible for the design and development of Mechanical Platform Systems that deliver crucial ship services and crew life support capabilities for the next generations of Nuclear Submarine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop functional engineering solutions that meet complex cross-functional interactions and requirements.
  • Engage with suppliers to develop and capture equipment and component specifications that meet challenging product demands.
  • Work with customers to develop requirements and acceptance criteria based on operational scenarios, use cases, and design considerations.
  • Perform and review engineering calculations and analysis to make design decisions and demonstrate system performance.
  • Develop design evidence to justify safe and effective designs and generate customer confidence.
  • Coordinate and manage stakeholders to solve complex engineering problems and make responsible decisions.

Requirements:

  • Educated to Degree level in Engineering, Mechanical or Science subjects.
  • Chartered Engineer within a recognised engineering institute.
  • Background in Fluid Systems Design.
  • Design documentation and presentation skills.
  • Complex engineering calculation skills.

As a Principal Engineer - Fluid Systems, you will be responsible for the design and development of critical systems that will be used in the next generations of Nuclear Submarine. You will work closely with customers and suppliers to ensure that the systems meet their requirements and are delivered on time and within budget.
