About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for pharmacy technicians to take on a key role in direct patient care with opportunities to develop their knowledge and clinical skills.

We are seeking a highly skilled and patient-focused GPHC registered Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust as an inpatient pharmacy technician.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical and medicines management services to all units/wards of the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Main Responsibilities
  • Supervise pharmacy assistants, pre-registration pharmacy technicians, and trainee pharmacists while working within the mental health service.
  • Support and develop the technical developments of medicines management to the units/wards within this locality.
  • Ensure that the service is safe, efficient, and effective.
  • Assist in the organisation, development, and provision of patient medication education to service users and their carers, liaising with staff to identify service users and carers who would benefit from these interventions.
  • Act as a role model for provision of pharmacy services to mental health to other pharmacy technicians and assistants within the team.

Person Specification
  • Registration:
    • Registered as Pharmacy Technician with GpHC
  • Qualifications:
    • NVQ Level 3 or BTEC
    • Medicines Management accreditation
    • ACPT
    • NVQ A1 assessor
  • Non-clinical knowledge/experience:
    • Met KSF Band 5 gateway
    • Experience supervising or managing other staff
  • Desirable:
    • Previous management experience
  • Clinical knowledge/experience:
    • Hospital Pharmacy experience
    • Experience of delivering medicines management schemes
  • Desirable:
    • Experience working in mental health setting
    • Experience using clozapine monitoring system
  • Planning & organisation:
    • Evidence of planning and developing new services
  • HR:
    • Experience in training staff
  • IT:
    • Evidence of IT skills (including pharmacy systems)
  • Other:
    • Driving skills
