Clinical Growth Opportunities

Our Clinical Rotational Pharmacists engage in comprehensive yearlong clinical rotations across numerous specialties, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Emergency and Urgent Care
  • Neurological Disorders
  • Transplant Medicine
  • Surgical Disciplines, such as Vascular and Gastroenterological Surgery
  • Medical Fields, including Renal and Respiratory Medicine
  • Oncology, featuring preparative services
  • Infectious Disease Management
  • Pediatric Care
  • Critical Care Services

As a Pharmaceutical Clinical Specialist, you will deliver patient-centered care within your designated area, collaborating closely with your local Lead or Advanced Clinical Pharmacist. By working alongside your pharmacy team and the broader multidisciplinary team, you will have the chance to enhance your specialty knowledge and service delivery.

Our Clinical Rotational Pharmacists are equipped to provide extended hours services to critical care and emergency departments. These services are essential for achieving national standards in medicines reconciliation and ensuring follow-up for the most critically ill patients, placing patient welfare at the forefront of our mission.

Key Responsibilities

To provide an advanced clinical pharmacy service to assigned ward(s) within your specialty area.

To meet specific performance objectives related to your allocated rotation area(s).

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Master's degree in Pharmacy.
  • Completion of a post-graduate preregistration year.
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Completion of Year 1 of the Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy/General Pharmacy Practice and currently studying for completion.

Desirable

  • Completion of Year 1 and Year 2 of the Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy/General Pharmacy Practice.
  • MSc in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent).
  • Qualification and registration as an Independent Prescriber.
  • Training in risk management.
  • Professional and final accuracy checking experience.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Strong clinical knowledge of pharmacotherapy and therapeutic trends in general medicine and surgery.
  • Familiarity with NICE and NPSA guidelines and local implementation examples.
  • Understanding of healthcare systems and NHS changes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience with pharmacy computer systems.

Desirable

  • Ability to remain composed and effective under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in producing educational materials for training.
  • Proven ability to teach and mentor various staff groups.
