Aberdeen, Aberdeen City, United Kingdom Turning Point Scotland Full time

Service Overview:
Turning Point Scotland stands as a premier developer and provider in the realm of Social Care.

We play a pivotal role in the establishment and execution of Fair Way Scotland, spearheading efforts to eradicate destitution among migrant populations lacking access to public funds.

Currently, we present a distinctive and rewarding opportunity for a Senior Support Specialist within the Fair Way Scotland Service, aimed at assisting more EU nationals in the North East to overcome destitution while ensuring their rights are thoroughly protected.

In collaboration with other partners within the broader Fair Way Scotland Consortium, you will deliver guidance regarding the EU Settlement Scheme and provide individualized support, empowering individuals to secure their immigration status and escape destitution.

This specialized role focuses on aiding individuals who have yet to attain immigration status through the EU Settlement Scheme.

Your responsibilities will include advising and assisting individuals in preparing to resolve their immigration status and mitigating the risks of homelessness and destitution, while connecting them to specialized advice, legal assistance, and accommodation services as necessary.

While your primary base will be in a designated area, you will also engage in outreach efforts to expand the service, meeting with EU nationals facing destitution or at risk within the community.

Advocacy for rights awareness is a fundamental component of this service, which you will help to promote by empowering individuals and sharing insights with other frontline professionals to ensure rights are upheld across their respective services.

Successful candidates will need to register with the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) at level 1 (EUSS only).

While prior experience with the EU Settlement Scheme is advantageous, comprehensive training will be provided, making it not a prerequisite.

A strong motivation to learn and engage in continuous professional development is essential to keep pace with the rapid changes within the immigration landscape.

Throughout your journey, you will receive support from a highly approachable management team, enabling you to build upon your existing knowledge and experience while acquiring new skills.

Exceptional literacy skills are required to effectively advocate for those you support with key agencies, including the Home Office and local authorities.

The consortium comprises a high-caliber group of skilled and dedicated organizations, already delivering essential services where others may not, and poised for expansion.

Addressing homelessness and destitution within this demographic is of utmost urgency.

Historically, limited accommodation, advice, and support for this group have primarily been provided by third sector organizations, as local statutory services often face restrictions in offering assistance.

Through our initiatives, we strive to make a significant impact within EU national communities.
