Position Overview: As a Senior Indirect Tax Specialist at The Sherwin-Williams Company, you will take charge of the VAT preparation and submission processes. Your responsibilities will encompass generating tax registers and sales reports, verifying information, reviewing invoices, and making necessary adjustments to ensure timely and accurate VAT filings.
Work Environment: This role is based in a hybrid model, allowing for flexibility with remote work options. It is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in International or European Taxation who are seeking to advance their careers within a leading global organization in the paint and coatings industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the VAT preparation and submission process for assigned entities, including the generation of tax registers and sales reports, data verification, invoice checks, and adjustment entries to ensure accurate and timely VAT filings.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of Intrastat and EC Sales lists for assigned companies, which involves analyzing sales data, correcting discrepancies, and submitting reports to the relevant authorities.
- Contribute to the onboarding of new entities within the Indirect Tax Group by mapping current activities and facilitating the transition of tasks to the Shared Service Center.
- Support the implementation of new Indirect Tax systems, such as OneSource and Making Taxes Digital for VAT, and participate in related initiatives.
- Stay informed about developments in Indirect Taxation, including legal changes and court rulings, and recommend appropriate actions to ensure compliance.
- Address inquiries from the business regarding the application of VAT regulations and ensure adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, AAT, etc.)
- Fluency in English and one or more major European languages
- A commitment to further professional development in the field of Taxation
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting strict deadlines with minimal supervision
- Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel (including Macros, Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle 11i and 12
- Strong understanding of fundamental VAT principles and practices
- Dedication to compliance with departmental policies and applicable laws
- A proactive approach to learning and development
- Organizational awareness and sensitivity
