About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Support Assistant to join our team at Kirklees Council. As a Support Assistant, you will work closely with a child with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan, providing individualized support to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the child in our highly regarded provision room, working alongside experienced members of staff.
  • Assist the child in the classroom, providing additional support as needed.
  • Develop and maintain trusting relationships with the child, understanding their individual needs and preferences.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to deliver a rich and exciting curriculum.

Requirements

  • Relate well to children and have a positive approach to supporting their needs.
  • Be able to work as part of a team, communicating effectively with colleagues and parents.
  • Be enthusiastic, caring, and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Have a good understanding of SEN and be able to adapt to the changing needs of the child.
