Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and chemotherapy-competent Band 6 Nurse to join our nurse-led service, providing chemotherapy, supportive therapies, and apheresis to patients with Haemato-Oncology and Solid Cancer.

Main Duties
  • Provide high-quality patient care, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized, holistic care in conjunction with the inter-professional team.
  • Act as a professional role model and clinical teacher, providing effective mentorship and supervision to nursing and non-nursing staff.
  • Liaise closely with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, taking charge of the Day Care Unit as required, and coordinating treatment production/dispensary.
  • Deputise for the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse as needed.

Person Specification
  • Essential criteria: registrant with NMC, chemotherapy certified, mentorship course, specialist relevant clinical course.
  • Desirable criteria: leadership programme or equivalent, degree or working towards first degree, chemotherapy course.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Essential criteria: evidence of proficient clinical skills in SACT care, proficient in communication, understanding of reflective practice, evidence of critical thinking and initiative.
  • Desirable criteria: basic computer skills, up-to-date knowledge of clinical specialty and evidence-based practice.
Other Essential Criteria
  • Caring manner towards patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Able to form good inter-personal relationships with all members of the inter-professional team.
  • Approachable and enthusiastic.
  • Professionally assertive.
