About the Role

Astute People is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in a strategically important role. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our recycling process plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Technical Shift Manager in daily maintenance tasks, including planned preventative maintenance and effective response to breakdowns.
  • Conduct thorough mechanical fault finding and root cause analysis on heavy machinery.
  • Optimize equipment efficiency to minimize downtime and ensure optimal plant performance.
  • Deliver work to operational expectations and budgetary requirements.
  • Accurately log maintenance records via the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Work as part of a shift pattern and adapt to the needs of the site.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a mechanical maintenance role within the waste management/recycling industry or a similar heavy process site.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical fault finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Formal mechanical engineering qualification is beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and LEAN principles.
  • Flexible approach to work and ability to adapt to site needs.
  • Excellent communication and team working skills.

Compensation Package

  • Basic salary of £40,000 – £55,000 DOE + overtime.
  • Holiday allowance of 25 days + bank holidays.
