Position: Lead Mechanical Commissioning Engineer

Compensation: £38,734 – £48,700
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct testing and commissioning operations, resolving conflicts, briefing teams, and supervising work.
- Act as a deputy for the relevant Commissioning Project Leader as needed, including managing personnel during shifts.
- Ensure safe operation of plant systems, maintaining awareness of plant conditions and the implications of activities.
- Engage in self-improvement and complete any required training.
- Perform routine tasks with minimal oversight while understanding safety implications in a high-risk setting.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to guarantee that activities are conducted safely and in compliance with regulations.
- Guide and mentor junior team members with your expertise and skills.
- Conduct research, review, and provide feedback on necessary documentation to meet required standards.
- Represent the organization during Contractors Sea Trials and other operational requirements.
- Deliver assigned tasks in accordance with company policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of work activities as mandated by policy and legislation.
- Instruct and mentor less experienced team members with your knowledge and expertise.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in commissioning or maintaining mechanical systems within a highly regulated sector (e.g., Oil, Gas, or Nuclear).
- Ability to work with precision, documenting and analyzing results.
- Familiarity with test equipment and the specific activities required for various tests.
- Understanding of the role and its contribution to the broader business and UK enterprise.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in high-risk environments.
- Experience with high-pressure systems.
- Capability to interpret complex mechanical systems (drawings, diagrams, and procedures).
- Awareness of Nuclear Site/Authorization Conditions.

About the Commissioning Team:
As the Lead Mechanical Commissioning Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in one of the largest and most intricate engineering programs undertaken nationally. This position offers the chance to work on first-of-class submarines, sharing your expertise and mentoring less experienced engineers to help achieve our objectives. You will also participate in critical event testing for Dreadnought on the new reactor plant design. Relocation support packages are available for all Submarine roles, subject to eligibility criteria.
