AWS - Senior Software Development Engineer

Barclays Bank PLC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Development Engineer to support the acceleration of a new digital platform capability, transforming and modernizing our digital estate to build a market-leading digital offering with customer experience at its heart.
The ideal candidate will have solid experience in full stack development technologies such as Java, React, API & microservices, PostgreSQL, knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering principles, project exposure to Ping Identity/ForgeRock products, and overall IAM engineering experience (authentication, authorization, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, user lifecycle management, OAuth2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, policy management). Additional relevant skills include cloud computing (AWS, Azure), experience in DevSecOps, knowledge of Infrastructure as a Code tools (Ansible, Terraform), containerization and knowledge of authentication and biometric system design.
This role will be based out of our London Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and improve software, utilizing various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
- Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
- Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
Requirements
- Strong technical skills in software development, including experience with Java, React, API & microservices, PostgreSQL, and Site Reliability Engineering principles.
- Knowledge of IAM engineering experience, including authentication, authorization, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, user lifecycle management, OAuth2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, policy management.
- Experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure), DevSecOps, Infrastructure as a Code tools (Ansible, Terraform), containerization, and authentication and biometric system design.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
- Ability to stay up-to-date with industry technology trends and innovations, and contribute to the organization's technology communities.
