About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Endoscopy Decontamination Technician to join our team within the Cancer and Surgery Services at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. You will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of our busy Endoscopy and Urology departments, working across both St Thomas' and Guys Hospitals.
Your Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, dismantle, clean, disinfect, and distribute flexible endoscopes, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of decontamination processes and ensure compliance with HTM 0106 and JAG standards.
- Collaborate effectively with the clinical team to ensure a smooth workflow and timely turnaround of equipment.
- Contribute to a safe and hygienic working environment by adhering to infection control procedures.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to changing service demands.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in decontaminating endoscopes within a Sterile Services Department or Endoscopy Decontamination department.
- Comprehensive understanding of decontamination processes, infection control principles, and relevant guidelines (HTM 0106, JAG).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records.
