Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £40,000 - £44,000 (DOE)
Location: Cumbria
Shift: Continental 4 on, 4 off, 12-hour shift (6:00 - 18:00, 18:00 - 6:00)
Purpose of the Role:
To support production by resolving engineering issues and addressing equipment breakdowns in a timely manner.
Main Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and breakdown repairs on time, complying with safety, engineering, and hygiene standards.
- Ensure engineering support is available during all operational hours.
- Propose plant modifications and improvements to increase efficiency.
- Keep historical records of breakdowns and PPMs to inform future maintenance strategies.
- Perform tasks including welding, fabrication, and mechanical fitting, such as gearbox installations, pump changes, steam system repairs, and bearing replacements.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering Maintenance or Manufacturing.
- Time-served engineer/fitter with a strong background in both reactive and preventative maintenance.
- Technical knowledge: experience with controls, fault analysis, and developing solutions.
