About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Carbon Consultant to join our team at Arup. As a key member of our Climate Change team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in carbon assessment and reduction strategies for major infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement carbon reduction strategies for infrastructure projects, including rail, highways, aviation, and energy sectors.
  • Manage client relationships and projects, providing direct mitigation advice to clients across infrastructure sectors.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver climate change projects and develop Environmental Statements for planning and progressing projects through a Development Consent Order (DCO).
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest carbon assessment standards and guidance, including PAS 2080 and ISO 14064.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure effective project delivery.
Requirements
  • Hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, such as Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hold a relevant chartership from a professional institution, such as Chartered Environmentalist or Chartered Engineer.
  • Have experience in carbon assessment, carbon footprinting, and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) for infrastructure projects.
  • Have knowledge of international, European, and UK policy, legislative, regulatory, and planning frameworks.
  • Have experience with LCA models, such as GaBi or SimaPro.
