We are seeking a Consultant in Neuropsychiatry who will collaborate with the national neuropsychiatry service. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with a vibrant team and contribute to a developing service.
The neuropsychiatry service operates as an outpatient facility, catering to a diverse population and receiving referrals from various medical professionals. A broad spectrum of neuropsychiatric disorders is evaluated and treated, including co-morbidities linked to neurological conditions, functional neurological disorders, and other organic psychiatric issues. Additionally, the service provides assessments and guidance to patients in various wards.
To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate completion of their Foundation training and possess a minimum of two years of experience in Psychiatry.
Key Responsibilities
The role is based within the neuropsychiatry service. The successful candidate will have proficiency in diagnosing and managing mental health issues associated with neurological conditions and functional neurological disorders. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting general neuropsychiatry outpatient clinics and performing assessments in various wards.
- Collaborating closely with existing neuropsychiatry consultants, with clinical supervision provided by the lead Consultant.
- Engaging with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Developing and implementing treatment plans for neuropsychiatric conditions in an outpatient context.
- Providing consultation and supervision to team members as necessary.

Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Medical degree.
- Full registration with the relevant medical council.
- MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
- Approval under the Mental Health Act or willingness to obtain such approval.
Experience
- At least four years of postgraduate training, including two years in a relevant specialty.
- Familiarity with the Mental Health Act and related legislation.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
Additional Skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and service improvement.
- Willingness to engage in research and clinical audits.
